Call ahead seating

DO most casinos in Vegas allow you to call ahead to reserve a seat? I heard some don't. Anyone know more about this would be appreciated.

When I stayed at the Orleans, I would call down from my room and have them put me on lists. Its about a 5-10 minute walk from the rooms, thru the casino to the poker room.
