Default French Lick, Indiana -- anyone play/stay there?

Will be in the Southern Indiana area tonight/tomorrow, and I see that French Lick has a casino w/poker (according to their website) --- saw a post a month or so back from Steamboatin that the room might be closing soon, though...

1. Is the poker room still open? What's the weekend action like? Do they spread 2/5 NL, or is it all 1/2?
2. I looked online for room rates, and they are charging $300 per night (?!?!) --- are there any decent hotels in the vicinity?

Thanks in advance...

I don't know if the poker room is still open, you will have to call. If it is open, give us a trip report or better yet, just come on down to Caesar's IN.

I'd rather go to Hanover and hang out with Woody Boyd.

I'll be going there next weekend. Has anyone been there since the last update in this thread? In addition to the poker room, I'm interested in any other information about the resort.

Frenck Lick Resort and West Baden Hotel are both very nice, recently renovated, however the room charges right now are ridiculous. There really isn't much else in the town of French Lick. A few hotels in Jasper which are more reasonable, but about 20 minutes away.

I went on a spurt of the moment trip earlier this month on a Thursday. The casino was dead after 10pm and the poker room had zero games going after 11pm. Weekends may be better. I went one weekend in April and though not hopping, the action was better. The floor was great. I like the room and would like to see it do well, but right now my choice would be Caesar's.

They're running a monthly 200+20 this Sunday. Normally, even on weekends, you're not going to find much higher than 1/3NL or 4/8, but tournament traffic might change that. I agree with the other post--good room, great floor, usually fun games; just slow sometimes.

I've been there plenty, but none withen the last 3ish months. Great place to play on Fri/weekends, during the week the games are sparce (there are usually 1-2 1/2NL games going and 1-2 Limit games going to. It varies widely.

It's a small room (LDO) but the staff is very good and the players are generally awful.

Thanks for the info. Anyone ever play in one of these 200 +20s? I couldn't find info on when it starts or the blind levels, but I know I can check it out when I get there tomorrow.
