Roommate is arguing that buying cheap seats (like to a Pittsburgh Pirates game) and moving down to better seats is stealing. Someone set him straight.

When I was a little Artdogg I'd always take 2 free cookies from the grocery store. One day an old lady told me that it is meant for people to take 1 and taking 2 is stealing. Who is correct, little Artdogg or old lady?

it's obviously stealing. there's really no gray area. whether you do it or not or whether you think it's a big deal or nothing is another thing.

the argument that it's not costing them anything is absurd, and it's pretty obvious why.

would i do it? sure.

Do it, don't do it, but calling it something besides stealing is a large rationalization and maybe you examine your heart a little more.

The ballpark's really don't care after a few innings and that's at sellouts at Shea... I highly doubt that the Pirates' staff is going to care unless you try to sneak into a private box or something. Regardless of whether some idealogue calls it stealing it's perfectly acceptable by the standards of every interested party (you and the ballpark) so do it and stop having a nitty conscience.

I know in Philly they care a lot. even in the 8th inning, they have ushers in the aisles checking tickets in the lower level.

And yes, it is stealing. getting something that costs more than what you paid for is stealing. Doesn't matter if there's no victims.

So you don't move down in a 5th inning of a 1/5th capacity crowd? Come on. If the seats are there you move down.

i've already said i would, but it is stealing. just because you would do it doesn't mean it's not theft.
