Supposedly Madsen is going back to college (IIRC). So while he may not be a 'pro', he certainly is now staked well enough to go pro.

My darkhorse: Mickey Appelman. Weird, eccentric guy but he's very aggressive when he seems to have an edge. I've seen him in AC play and he's got a strong table presence, even due to his strange demeanor. He's astute at reading players and seemed to me he can switch gears effectively.

Are previous FT players really dark horses?

I'd say he's less known than a lot of pros who we haven't seen on a ME final table.

Mickey Appelman is not known by the casual poker fan who knows Ivey,Brusnon, Matusow, Hellmuth,Negreanu. He's not even known by the 2nd tier known players like Ferguson,Raymer,Juanda, etc.

I would say he's a darkhorse because he doesn't make many people's Top 100 favorites to any large tournament.

I think he looks a lot like Mick Jagger.

Maybe Mick Jagger can play Bill Nye the Science Guy heads up for the championship!
