True, hacking is an option, but even more unlikely than the options listed usually. My point was basically THERE IS NO middle stakes or small stakes super-users running around.

It obviously stems from near the top level. And I have reasonable suspicion that Mark is involved, but probably not just him.

Good question. It's briefly mentioned here and here, but I can't find any decent account of it. The story I heard was that Doyle (who endorsed the site at the time) was playing someone at heads-up limit, when he felt that he wasn't getting a fair game. He asked Highlands staff to check through the hand history logs and found a hand where the guy had had AQ vs doyle's 22 on the board AQ2 and played it as check call, check call, check fold. It was later found that the server had been compromised.

Don't really know if that's true or not. Not a lot of attention got paid at the time because Highlands was a pretty small and crappy site, the cheating was caught pretty quickly, and when the site went under Doyle reimbursed all the players out of his own pocket (even though he didn't have a stake in the site).

You think AP sends packets of everyone's holecards immediately? That would be the most retarded coding in the world. Yes there could be more "insiders" but its not like joe blow hacker from the street could miraculously see hole cards just by being good with computers.

I agree that an inside job is more likely because people are the weakest link in any security plan, but it's totally possible that there is a flaw in their server that can be exploited. And you're crazy if you think that

a) only one person/team would find it and
b) it would stay secret forever

I don't know if this is obvious to everyone else, but in thinking about how this would be different on Stars or Full Tilt, I realized that having pros attached to the site offers the player a degree of protection. Here we are, with a compelling case for cheating, and our only hope of getting someone to follow up is by convincing someone in Costa Rica, who may or may not be in on the scam, that there is something wrong.

By having a stable of endorsing pros you have a group of people who ostensibly understand probability, math and poker logic. Actions like this would destory value for pros who endorse a site and they would have a huge incentive to pressure the site for an explanation. We would also have a name and a face to go to as some form of recourse. I hardly think Mark Seif qualifies.

So if this was Stars we would ask Raymer to review the evidence, if Stars was unwilling, and he would be hard pressed to ignore it with his reputation on the line as well.
