Tough call on the river there. I had a similar situation, except that my opponents play was even more expert.

It really requires an expert not to get any money in the pot at all before you are way behind and then only by check raising all-in.

The check/call at the flop is a mark of a true expert.

Villain put you on AK until the river, then he put you on AQ. His play was so close to being perfect.
