Re: US faces US$100 billion fine for web gambling ban
The US won't pay, period. All this is going to do is give more support to Barney Franks effort to repeal UIGEA so we don't have to pay. Once the US legalizes the financial transactions to online gaming sites the sites then can be based in the US. Expect most of the sites to move their ops to the US - especially the ones who left after UIGEA was put into law.

Re: US faces US$100 billion fine for web gambling ban
This is nonsense.
China says eff-u to the U.S. when America whines about piracy and we say eff-u to the EU when it comes to online gaming. No offense to anyone who believes this nonsense but those who think the US would actually spend 20% of its annual military budget to satisfy a WTO imposed penalty related to online gaming is on crack. |

WTO,UIGEA,UN........ we all saw that the US Govt will do whatever it wants whenever it wants. The UN was supposed to be able to stop its members from going out on their own and attacking countries. Iraqi invasion???!?!?

Re: US faces US$100 billion fine for web gambling ban
I think the most interesting part of this is not the political stuff or morality, the interesting part is their just isn't enough votes to make this legal. So they voted to make it illegal just so no one else could benefit.
They took their ball and went home. All that morality crap and "click your mouse, lose your house" stuff was just a farce. These next elections will matter though because if it does go the wrong way I would expect this to get about 10 times worse than it has. The accelerator hasn't been pushed because there is just enough pressure to stop a full scale attack. I also agree with most others, China does not care and blows off the WTO routinely. If you thought we lost freedoms before just wait until these Wild Wild West threats come true. They can't get the guys in Antigua but they can get you. |

[ QUOTE ] Thats a great reason for nobody to ever vote for a dumb ass republican again. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, go ahead and vote for Hillary and watch your taxes, businesses, health care, and the war on terror implode. [/ QUOTE ] More importantly, let's not pretend that the Democrats in the U.S. are gambling-friendly. Or, for that matter, WTO-friendly. |

it doesnt matter what the WTO decides to do or how big the fine is because the US govt doesnt care and just wont pay it and theyll keep doing w/e they want. [/ QUOTE ] that pretty much sums it up |

Re: US faces US$100 billion fine for web gambling ban
As memory serves, this has zero to do with the UIGEA, but dates well prior to the passing of that. So even a full repeal of the UIGEA will have no influence on this WTO issue.
