Actors who you couldn\'t picture as a bad guy/good guy
A big deal was made when Tom Cruise played a bad guy in 'Collateral', and I admit it was kinda weird seeing him play a psychopath. But who are some other actors who you could never imagine playing a good guy or a bad guy? Some of mine off the top of my head:
actors i couldn't see playing a good guy: Michael Wincott (Top Dollar in 'The Crow') Gary Oldman (I think he's played a couple good guys, but I'm pretty sure most of his main roles have been bad guys) actors I couldn't see playing a bad guy: Tom Hanks (he wasn't really a 'bad guy' in 'Road To Perdition') Jackie Chan George Clooney That's all I can think of for now... |

The new Bond looks like a villain bigtime. He looks like the typical blond/blue villain that would be shoved into a late-80's Die Hard-ish thriller.
Michael Keaton probably can't play a bad guy. Steve Buscemi has a hard time coming off as a "good guy", even though Armageddon he was pretty good. |

Chuck Norris as a bad guy is something I am sure few (if any) of us could picture.

Well, toss in Clive Owen. He can play antihero roles, doing good things. But sitting around grinning and not seeming to have an agenda, naw.
Agreed on Hanks. He can't quite pull it off, eh. |

Re: Actors who you couldn\'t picture as a bad guy/good guy
I think Steve Buscemi is very good at playing a good guy. He is quite convincing to me. A good example of this was his (too short) role in The Island. He was easy to sympathize with and played a pretty good guy. I thought it was well done.
I couldn't see Christopher Walken as a bad guy. |

Speaking of Christopher Walken, I finally watched Annie Hall the other day and got a kick out of his small part. Jeff Goldblum has one liner in it too, don't think I've seen either in anything earlier.
I can't imagine Bill Murray playing a villain. |

The only actor I can think of right now is William H. Macy. There's no way he could portray a bad guy.

Lebowski, The Island, Reservoir Dogs, all had him play what's close enough to a good guy for movie purposes. Also, see Trees Lounge. He typically is a highly flawed good guy, to say the least, but you can really feel the guy. |
