Default First time going to Atlantic City

I might be heading out to Atlantic City for the first time. So I just wanted a little heads-up before I try it. It would be my first time in a casino. I play PokerStars .25/.50 right now, and play decently. Not great, but profitable, and building/learning my way to 100NL. But I've heard casinos are soft and easy and full of sweet, sweet monies. Plus there's the added fun of people getting to see my new hoodie and tight jeans that they just can't fully appreciate on the internet no matter how many times I try to describe it to them while we play a hand.

So: I'm guessing the place to start is 1/2 tables. Any recommendations on where to go for a good bunch of these? A good atmosphere? How much money I should bring (300-ish)? Tell me please!

PS: Is it a smart move to play up it being my first time in a casino/construct some image as a totally star-struck non-player, or is this just too much effort for something not so important?

300-ish is light but that's just me. If you buy in for 100 BB's, thats $200. Lose that and you got $100 left. I usually overdo it, but I would take at least 3 buy ins... just in case

I don't know what your roll is at/if you care about bankroll management. I'd take around 300, you could do two buy ins of around $150.

And I'd go to Caesar's if I were you, great place.

My bankroll isn't really real, you know? I have an internet roll, but this is just an excursion, so I just want to bring enough that I can play properly, not scared. I might take along 5 or 6 hundred just so going all-in isn't half my money, for the psychology.

What's the neatness about Caesar's?

It's a classy(ish) place, I like it for all the Roman imagery I guess, haha. Generally good games.

If you're not scared than yeah, bring $600, buy in for 100bbs and holler.

600$ is fine. games are soft. but must be prepared for variance. Play tight dont play junk, dont raise limpers light. you will still get payed off.

too much effort... this matters little if at all at low limits, focus on playing solid poker - if you are beating 50NL online then 1/2NL live shouldnt be tough for you

if your going to AC, nothing beats the Borgata.... biggest poker room there, lots of donkey's (especially at 1/2).... unfortunately id hafta say their drink selection is the worst of em all (they dont give you redbull unless ur a ballar and have less beer choices then other casinos), but if ur just interested in playing, then the Borgata it is

bring a bigger bankroll, at least 3 buy-ins. It only takes one chump drawing thin to a gutshot to ruin your whole damn day.
Borgata is best room by far, hottest girls, most tables, shortest wait, best food, most sit-n-gos. Since I usually play 10-20, can't comment on where softest 1/2 games are. I think they are all soft. 2-5 attracts much better players.

Well - 600 would be 3 buyins at 200 apiece, which is enough to sit comfortably (its also not a bad idea to buy in on the shorter side at first, and then top off your stack once you get comfortable. Risk exposure and all that). IMO starting out with as much money as possible on the table in an unfamiliar environment is dangerous.

As far as playing up the new player - if you act a little clueless early the dealer will get you started - at least at the Borg. the dealers are pretty good about helping new players in small games.
