Value Investor Congress
Has anyone ever gone to a Value Investing Congress . They have one in NYC in November with some good speakers (Einhorn, Pabria, Cooperman, Ackman) but I'm skeptical I'll learn much. They'll probably discuss ideas with market caps much above my range for example. But I'm itching to just to get out of the bat cave, rub elbows with other serious investors and maybe have fun in NY. But on the other hand it will cost me close to $4,000 with hotel/airfare and my cheap side says that's too expensive to sit in a conference chair for 16 hours.
I'm trying to think of any way I'll benefit enough to justify it so I'd love to hear anyone elses experiences. Maybe I should go because I don't know what I don't know and something there will spark good ideas or teach me interesting approaches? |

Re: Value Investor Congress
I would go if I were you. Isn't the portfolio you manage 7 figures? With a porfolio of that size any good idea you get from the conference pays for the trip tenfold+. It'd be a good/fun life experience even if you didn't learn much. Also I think you mentioned you might start your own fund; the contacts you'll make would be a huge help. Lastly, couldn't you write the expense off?
P.S. If you do go, please ask Mr. Pabrai what his new Delta price target is |
