Default Music sounds awful on my computer

For some reason, when I play music on my computer (lately, hasn't always done this) it sounds kinda distorted, almost like the speakers are blown. Only they aren't, and it sounds the same on my headphones too.

Could this be a problem with my sound card? Or something else I haven't thought of?

could be the sound card, also check your volume settings, maybe you have something on max volume and it is causing the distortion.

not enough memory? are you running a lot of programs and have a lot of things going on in the background? how much RAM do you have?

Ctr+Alt+Dlt - task manager- processes. that will show you what's eating up your memory.
