Re: Debate regarding bigger games at canterbury
[ QUOTE ]
Just look at the podunk rooms in Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit. There are no regular limit games going in any of those cities higher than 20/40. [/ QUOTE ] Melbourne is 4 million and doesn't even have that! JT |

Re: Debate regarding bigger games at canterbury
Spreading NL at CP @ any level above 1/2 would kill CP.

Re: Debate regarding bigger games at canterbury
Canterbury Card Club opened in April, 2000, and $15/30 was the highest limit allowed by law. It went up to $30/60 on August 1, 2001, just a couple of months before their first Fall Classic. The powers that be don't want anything bigger, and they certainly don't want no-limit cash games, because they are afraid that too many people will go broke too quickly. They can't make money off of broke people.
I am of the opinion that this market could support a $100/200 game on a sporadic basis, probably mostly on weekends or on days that are convenient for the guys who would be supporting it. Such a game might get the local stars to come to CP on a more regular basis, and there is a small but very well-heeled group of live ones that would make the game at least somewhat sustainable. On balance, I suspect that CP is better off without it. |
