ok, back to the set odds post i made earlier.

i looked at my lifetime DB at 50nl 6max. 209,000 hands. yikes.

anyways, i filtered for 88-22 where i called a raise pf (i don't call 3bets with those hands, unless multiway). and i play fit or fold vast majority of the time, with an occasional flop c/r here and there on dry flops against people who c-bet like crazy.

only looked at 88 so far (206 hands total). no spew in any of the hands except for one where i raised the turn representing whatever and had to fold to the push.

88: 206 hands: net $51

in looking at the hands, a big % of the time i win the pot on the flop. a significant % of the time i can't get value on the turn or river because it's 4 to a straight or 4 of a suit. and so on.

so, for 88 at least, given that i played those hands decently, each 88 hand is worth about $2.50.

So I'm currently beating 50NL for 10ptbb (5k hands sample size yada yada) and I beat 25nl for 8ptbb over 25k hands. I think I'm good for 7.5ptbb/100 at 50NL over a long period of time.

My current roll is $1,700 and I'm wondering when I should start taking shots at 100NL. I've gotten responses from "You should already be doing it!" to "Grind out 50NL to $3,000 then try it out".

What does the brew think?

do whatever you want? you dont need someone to tell you when to take a shot, just be sensible with your roll and do what you feel like doing

I have the very strong suspicion most people undervalue AK preflop on this forum.

Personally, unless villain is really really tight I'm willing to felt AK(s) preflop.
When I'm oop with AK I pretty much always raise pre. When I'm in position I usually call, and sometimes raise.

Do more people feel that the advice on this forum is generally "fold AK here pre" way too often?
