I was grinding out $5 HU matches, $6.50 turbo SNG's and $1-$5 MTT's on Stars with a $2-300 bankroll.

About a year ago I decided to give up poker, and cashed out my entire roll. Mainly because of UIGEA and I wanted to focus on having as much fun as possible over the course of my senior year in college. But earlier that summer I moved out to Vegas for the WSOP, had great live MTT success (live $1000 events play like $10 online events) and was playing 2/4 NL on party, partly because I didn't think I was that good and mostly becaues I'm a huge bankroll nit.

After graduating in June, this year, I thought maybe poker is still a better source of income than working for the man. So I redeposited $600 to see how beatable the games are. Now I'm back at 2/4, just at a different site with slightly tougher games. Biggest difference is that I have a lot more motivation to grind cash and am more willing to move up in stakes quicker, although I'm still a pretty big bankroll nit.

Looking back I really wish I hadn't wasted so much time being lazy, not improving my game, and not moving up stakes. It bums me out to realize if I had put in the hours/effort I could be worth 10x as much as I am worth now.

Hmmm, last year at this time, in the first 2 months of my first year of MTT's yielded 3 FT's & 2 wins for total of $90K...since then...pphhttt, except if you count a SNG win of a $2.5K ME seat in the Midwest Regional Poker Championships earlier this year...ehhh, also sold the '02 Vette Z06 after a 160mph vy near miss with a deer & bought boring Infiniti M35x...BR is sane, cash game intact...all live tho', yet to try to take on you young-uns on-line

Bankroll of maybe 5k, playing twenty dollar tournaments and thirty dollar SNGs. Made 10k by luckboxing my way through tournaments and gave up my job as a security guard.

Learned over the next couple months I absolutely sucked at poker, and nearly lost my mind from the stress of trying to pay my bills.

I started obsessively analyzing my play, watching training videos, and discussing hands and gradually I improved. I logged 60-80 hours a week most of the time, and slowly moved up in SNGs, and then to MTTs.

Now I live in a really nice apartment, travel all the time, and love life. I don't have quite the results a lot of people have but I'm pretty happy.
