Default chicago day / grand victoria

my parents live 10 min from the grand victoria but they don't have a poker room why is that? I know about the rooms down in Aurora and Joliet and the table issues they have with legislation. I would think that the Grand Vic could swing some Ohare business traveler players pretty easily along with the hundreds of thousands in the NW Suburbs.

if any one has any info on the Grand Victoria's policies and future plans in regrads to poker it would be greatly appreciate

thanks

i live within 5 min. of GV, and whenever i have asked them about getting a poker room up and running, their response has been "we have no plans at this time." the way i understand illinois gaming laws, is that each casino is only allowed x number of gaming positions. it is much more profitable for the casinos to have more slots(especially slots) and table games than poker tables. i believe the empress in joliet got rid of their room, and hollywood in aurora only has 6 tables. the waiting lists at hollywood can get pretty long at peak times. i constantly hear the poker players at hollywood complain about the state of poker here, but it is what it is.

There is no poker room, because the governor of Illinois aspires to higher office. Therefore, he is a "caretaker" governor, who will not move on legislation beneficial to the people of the state. Such legislative agenda could include lifting the limit on the number of casino gaming positions.

yep, IL Gaming Commission has pretty much killed poker. Empress gave up. Hollywood is limit only except for tourneys (with a lottery style sign-up. Harrahs Joliet says the same thing everytime I ask my host "no plans on poker".

Good news is that Pottowatami in Milwaukee is (or has) expanded their room. Resorts is a smaller room, but playable.

Majestic Star has 21 tables and IMO the nicest room with the best staff in the Chicagoland area. Dom Niro is a great poker room manager.

Harrah's Horsehoe in Hammond IN says it has plans to add a room when its expansion project is completed in 2008.

I guess "Greg" is no longer the manager, from what you wrote.

Yep, Dom's the guy. There may be different levels of "poker room" management - but, after meeting Dom at the Heartland Poker tourney last week held at Majestic - he was introduced by the HPT people to the tournament players as the poker room manager.
