How come I can't vote for Jay Cutler being the better pro?

No chance.

If Cutler is so great he could have gone to a school with more talent and won more games.

[/ QUOTE ]

There are countless examples of pretty good players going to pretty bad programs. Trent Green (Indiana), Jake Delhomme (University of Louisiana-Lafayette), Steve McNair (Alcorn State), Ben Roethlisberger (Miami-OH), Byron Leftwich (Marshall), and that's just current programs.

Leinart had more talent around him than Young did, but Texas still won the Rose Bowl.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't say Leinart necessarily had more talent around him.

[/ QUOTE ]

That is a very questionable statement about USC and Texas. They were so evenly matched in the Rose bowl, It is pretty unfair to label either team stronger.

The teams were only evenly mathced because of Vince Young. If Cutler is quarterbacking Texas they lose by at least 2 touchdowns.

Let's also take into account the Texas offense vs USC offense. I believe the USC offense was closer to what a college player might see in the pro's. Young won't only be under center 5 times a game. And Young won't be running many of his mid/speed option. And I think his mid option was the strongest part of his game.

And as I've said in the past, if Young is somehow drafted into the AFC South, that throwing motion will kill him against those defenses. Look at the Jags, Henderson and Stroud swat passes from almost any QB, they will be licking thier lips to see a QB throwing almost side arm.

Vince Young is a poor man's Daunte Culpepper/Akili Smith.

I'm a huge Oregon fan, but you saying that Vince Young is a "poor man's" Akili Smith is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Wow, that is some serious disrespect to say Vince Young is a poor man's Akili Smith. I don't think Young will amount to a whole lot in his pro career, but to say he is worse than Akili Smith right now is not right, in my opinion.

John Elway never made it to a bowl game at Stanford. I think he ended up doing pretty good in the NFL.
