Over a "playoff" type run two individual performances stick out above others in sports where I believe it could be most easily said that this individual won the championship in a team sport. 1986 Diego Maradonna won the world cup of soccer. 2003 Johnny Wilkinson effectively won the world cup of rugby.

Magic Johnson, Game 6, 1980 NBA Finals.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is easily the best championship performance ever in the NBA. Nothing else is close. Kareem was out, and the Lakers literally didn't know who was going to play center for them in Game 6 of the finals, until on the bus ride to the arena when Magic volunteered, saying something like "I'll play center coach."

Legend has it that when Magic stepped in the circle for the tip off, the 76ers center (Tree Rollins?) looked at Magic astonishingly and said, "You've got to be kidding me."

So Magic, a rookie point guard, played center on the road against Philly and led his team to the series clinching victory.

Magic's line: 42 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists.

Tom Brady. Patriot's first Superbowl win. That last drive where John Madden said to take a knee and go to overtime. He completed every freakin' pass. This was after the Patriots absolutely collapsed in the fourth quarter. Even though I don't believe it exists, Tom Brady is clutch.

As much as I hate him, Terrell Owens' 2004 season SuperBowl was pretty awesome. Not the BEST, but those have been mentioned already.
