Everything is cyclical. LHE will return.

And as another poster said, multiple games FTW.

I also think limit poker is fine from a survival standpoint. There are always fish and there are always fish who are afraid of dumping their whole roll in one hand, so they play limit. Every time I go into a casino and MY knowledge has increased, I always assume that all the other players will be better and I will struggle...and so far it's never even come close to happening. People will still play and suck at any game possible.

Yeah tilt shoving into better hands is not good for the br. I lost probably 2-3 buy ins from tilt.

How much better is NL short? Is it as fun as FR limit at least?

I personally play multiple limit poker variants. Loooooooooooooooving 2-7 tripledraw right now.

headsup limit holdem=the nuts

potlimit holdem and omaha are great fun too.

Are you implying limit FR is fun? I think for me nl 6max is about the same as limit FR [because limit full ring is extremely boring to me]. I obviously prefer limit 6max over nl 6max, and the shorter the beterr [except HU, I need to work on that].

Game states fluctuate. If the popularity dies down and/or the games dry up because the fish go broke too fast, then limit games may pick up momentum again.

Don't be too concerned w/ limit games dying, if LHE is your specialty, because plenty of skills are transferable/general in poker.

If you like to tilt on a relatively frequent basis, then you should play limit forms of poker.

Limit is probably a better game to play as a beginner since NL is more complicated. It's likely that there will be plenty of limit games to play in if you shop around, so it's not a waste of time if you do choose to go down the LHE route.

Another aspect of limit vs NL is what kind of downside variance you enjoy more: Chinese water torture or French guillotine.

It's hard to deny that NL is more profitable but I stick to focusing on LHE because I still suck enough to warrant it. When my mood changes, I'll shift gears. I've played maybe 30k NL hands, not too much.

Interesting thread.
Could the (former) SSSH players tell me if they started playing NL fullring or NL 6max... (Mossberg?)
I ordered some NL books and I'm going to give it a serious try, but I'm not certain whether to start with NL full or short...
