Re: Well, Florida, how did the first day of NL/$5limit games treat you
[ QUOTE ]
soulvamp - so i can't go to the cage myself to get chips? Or they can't simply let cash play or something? Or they can't use an occasional chip-runner? I play live in Tunica, Mississippi all the time and the amount of time used for all the different people rebuying chips is not that much of an impact. If this is their logic behind that rule then it's pretty stupid. The additional figuring of all the side-pots from the various $4 and $15 stack people throwing it in so that they can finally be allowed to rebuy will probably end up being more time-consuming because of this rule. [/ QUOTE ] Geez, take a breath, Bob. Why are people here so damn defensive? I tossed out what I thought they're probably thinking. I didn't say I advocate it. |

I'm breathing just fine.
I am coming up with alternative ways they can approach this situation. I don't think I was defensive in the least but was just analyzing why they would want to do that and what better ways there might be of going about it. I also never said that you advocated their rule and fully understood that you were just expressing a theory. |

Re: Well, Florida, how did the first day of NL/$5limit games treat you
[ QUOTE ]
I guess the point is that it's a way to keep the game moving instead of having to top off everyone between every hand. It would make more sense if a time charge were taken, I suppose. But it seems like that could be tweaked somewhat, like not allowing a rebuy of less than $25 or something. [/ QUOTE ] A suggestion: players are allowed to keep rebuy money in a rack or series of racks, covered by a box or another rack. To comply with the Division of Pari-Mutuels's interpretation of the laws, this money is not in play. Between hands, players may announce they are "topping up" and then the dealer can watch them refresh their stack. Also, players could tip and pay for things out of this funding, as opposed to paying with money on the table, which is technically ratholing. Maybe this money could be kept on a stand to the side of the player's seat, or on a shelf under the table, but both of these incur costs for the stands and shelves. Problems I forsee: Invites players to rathole, but not any more than players pocketing chips, and other players can keep track of each other, just like they do now. Also, any room doing time charge (not just in FL, but anywhere) should sell tokens to pay time with that don't play in games, so that $60 doesn't come off the table per down. Just a thought. |

Re: Well, Florida, how did the first day of NL/$5limit games treat you
[ QUOTE ]
If I happen to win my $4 hand and am now up to $12 or $16 or something then I'm going to be less inclined to just throw it away. But I'm also going to still be stuck there with just $12 or $16 or something. [/ QUOTE ] This rule effects play a great deal. There were several times where larger stacks would make a substantial preflop raise and get stacks under $50 to push with very marginal hands just to either double or triple up or go broke so they can rebuy. This is something that is very exploitable in a game where a rule like this is in place. |

Coconut Creek (a Seminole casino) now allows iPods.

I haven't been to the Hard Rock yet, but at Coconut Creek the $1/2 NL game has a $50 minimum buy in and a $200 max and the $2/5 is $100/$500. The other night they spread a $5/10 NL game with a $500 minimum buy in and a $5000 cap.

Re: Well, Florida, how did the first day of NL/$5limit games treat you?
[ QUOTE ]
How are the games at the Tampa Hard Rock going? How many of the bigger limit games (10/20,20/40) are getting going or does everyone just want to play No Limit? Are the waiting lists huge? Thanks [/ QUOTE ] People like the limit games at the Tampa Hardrock although the NL games are more popular. There were 2 tables of 10/20 limit going on Sunday afternoon into the evening. |

Still a problem when YOU are the one stuck sitting there with only $15 or something though. But perhaps the crappy decisions of the other short-stacked opponents makes up for this. |
