TV is going to be great during the strike!!

NBC announced that the Office/30 Rock hour is going to be replaced by The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition
[ QUOTE ]

Fourteen celebs -- including ex-"Sopranos" star Vincent Pastore, actress/author Marilu Henner, former "Apprentice" contestant Omarosa (who's dropped her last name, apparently) country singer Trace Adkins and KISS bassist/merchandising maven Gene Simmons -- will compete in business-related tasks while raising money for non-profit groups. The winner will get to present a $250,000 check to their chosen organization.

Trump is typically understated in assessing the seventh version of his show. "This will be the most exciting season of 'The Apprentice' yet –- maybe even better than season one," he says. "Our 14 celebrity contestants are incredible individually, and as a group they will make 'The Celebrity Apprentice' one of the hottest shows on television."

The other contestants are model Carol Alt, actor and veteran celeb-reality show contestant Stephen Baldwin, former Olympic gymnast Nadia Comaneci, 2005 Playmate of the year Tiffany Fallon, softball star Jennie Finch, TV producer Nely Galan ("The Swan"), former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, "America's Got Talent" judge/editor Piers Morgan and Ultimate Fighting legend Tito Ortiz.

[snip}At the end of that time, both the studio and the actors have the option to end their deals or continue at their regular pay.

[/ QUOTE ]
"End their deals" = no paychecks
And this is how the WGA has solved the problem, for the Producers, of the actors potential strike in the fall. After not having income for months, all the actors who were accustomed to getting a regular check will agree to just about anything come autumn.

[/ QUOTE ]

doesn't this mean a star can end his deal and demand a new contract that pays him double what he was getting before?

and the actors strike would take place at the end of June.

I really hope Celebrity Apprentice turns into a huge trainwreck (seems pretty likely). I am kinda interested to see Tito in a corporate setting.

A few sources are reporting that negotiations have resumed and are going well with hope the strike will be over before Christmas. Can anyone a little closer to the action provide an update?
