Default $100 NL River Good Enough?

I know nothing useful about villian. How do you feel about a turn check?

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 4 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

SB: $160.90
<font color="black">Hero (BB): $136.55</font>
UTG: $97.55
BTN: $239.30

<font color="black">Preflop:</font> Hero is dealt 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 Players)
2 folds, SB calls $0.50, Hero checks

<font color="black">Flop:</font> ($2) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
<font color="red">SB bets $2.00</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to $7.00</font>, SB calls $5.00

<font color="black">Turn:</font> ($16) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
SB checks, <font color="red">Hero bets $12.00</font>, <font color="red">SB raises to $36.00</font>, Hero calls $24.00

<font color="black">River:</font> ($88) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)

Ok, let's ignore turn check, I figure I just thought of that because it's a good line provided we know he'll pot an eight river.

My problem here was putting him on a hand. Why would an 8 check raise turn? Why would a set just call my flop reraise? Straight? He has 69? 78?

You beat a busted SF draw, nothing else makes sense. Pass.
