calling preflop is fine as long as you know how to steal some pots post flop

on the flop I really think you need to go for a C/R or at least see what MP does, i dont like betting out because your hand can be dead on the turn and you really dont drive out many hands.

You could also go for a turn C/R against an agro player because it looks like you just took a stab at a board that probably didnt hit either player, he might think his 88 is good.

The river is a bitch and unless he has something like 7d5d you are beat here so just check/fold

What hand can you put him on that is valuebetting? 55-99 and a T, 45, 35, are generally going to be checking behind, a straight would have been alive somewhere earlier (as would the very unlikely sets, except possibly TT). His play matches very little besides a missed draw
