Default 1/2 NL - Bottom pair turns trips, how much to bet on river?

1/2 NL 6-max but 5-handed

Villain has $220, I cover. I've been beating up on him when he was BB to my Button, but he has played back at me when he appeared to have hands. Other than that he's a relative unknown, is river a PSB, shove, or a little smaller? As for the raise pf, it's been a tight/passive table mostly and I've been able to run over it with good success.

Hero raises to $8 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 1 fold, Villain calls OTB, 2 folds.

Flop J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero bets $13, Villain calls.

Turn 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero bets $22, Villain calls.

River 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero bets...

If he hasn't played back at you at this point, he probably is just begging to see a showdown (represented by his call of a 1/2 PSB on turn). Don't price him out. I don't think he is going to be in hero call mode.

I really like small turn bets followed by big river bets in spots like these b/c villain will often feel like he only called the turn to call the river

Results: I actually bet $49 and he called/mucked 99. I'm not sure he would have called $64 but who knows.

you think he called 99 b/c it was cheap? I mean its possible but shouldnt he be more inclined to think we were bluffing a bigger bet?
