Need Website Slogan Help
My website name is CollegeSpot.com(cant currently view it).
It is a type of craigslist for college students but also includes, or could possibly include in the future, a ride board, forums, proffesor/course reviews, and a few other things. Were working on a slogan for it and have hit a wall. As a temp tag we put up "The best place to buy and sell at school" but that doesnt really fit the bill for obvious reasons. When working on something else the word that keeps coming to mind is networking(as were not actually doing any of the selling, just connecting buyers/sellers and drivers/riders and providing a place for students to chat). However when I think of networking I think of facebook and myspace...so I dont really want to use that word. Any ideas on something catchy that encompasses everything? If you have any questions about the site feel free to ask. Any input is appriciated. Thanks, Evan |

Re: Need Website Slogan Help
"networking" is good. what came to my mind was "connecting" w/ people.
"It's good to have connections." "The place to connect with your campus." just a couple half thought ideas to help you brainstorm. |

Re: Need Website Slogan Help
spend a week or so generating a massive list of brain stormed buzzwords.
Do headings with your major categories: network, marketplace, college etc. and then start writing anything that comes to mind. Circle the best ones, when you identify the buzzwords/keywords you want to include generating a slogan from that shouldnt be as imposing. |

Re: Need Website Slogan Help
Now that you have some suggestions you might want to use AdWords for A/B testing. Perry Marshall just sent out a newsletter with an example ad where the only difference was the description text used. Here's how it went -
(A) Active Summer Camp Kids Develop Learning Skills in a Fun Filled Learning Enviornment www.SuperCamp.com (B) Active Summer Camp Kids Develop Learning, Listening & Communication Skills At Active Camp www.SuperCamp.com A got 0.5% CTR. B got 2.0% CTR. Here's the other test he had in the newsletter - while not "too" useful for what you're doing it's still interesting - (A) Mold Help For Morons Find out if you have a toxic mold problem without spending a fortune! www.GetMoldSolutions.com (B) Mold Help For Morons Find out if you have a toxic mold problem without spending a fortune! www.StopBlackMoldNow.com A got 2.1%. B got 1.6%. Only the URL was different. So you can follow the first example and A/B test different collegespot slogans. You might be saying, "Well my site isn't even up yet, I can't do this" but you would be incorrect! You don't even have to link to your site. You can pick some random college site to send the traffic to and use your proposed slogan and see which gets higher clicks. Google lets you put any URL in the text that is displayed to users (which would be YOUR site) - it doesn't have to match the actual URL you're sending visitors to (some random college site). All you're doing is testing which slogan is more popular. Just remember to set your daily budget low so you only spend $25 or less on the testing. |
