Kot,

Apparently you are not aware that to find out information about viewers in any single forum, all I or anyone else has to do is LOOK AT THE MAIN INDEX PAGE!

a question about the data:

if a user has tabs open with threads from multiple forums, how would what he is 'viewing' be calculated?

Sniper believes that a user is counted as viewing a forum if he has opened a thread there within the last 15 minutes. So as long as each tab keeps getting refreshed, each counts as a separate user.

ed, the answer to this is not clear, it could be...

1. multi counting them, which might account for the difference with big-boards numbers.

2. only counting the last user action.

This could lead to things like Dids constantly refreshing BBV in order to pump up their numbers:

I think I screwed that up. My post above only applies if you're using different accounts. A user can be counted as viewing more than one forum, but each account can only be counted as viewing any particular forum once.

Iron, worth noting that even if the first sentence is true (and you would think looking at the thread list would also count, right?), does not make your 2nd sentence true.

This isnt something we would have to really worry about. Its a rare case, if ever.
