lol. He sounds like a real loser! Maybe why he gets invited to all the big home games in town, right? Wish I could get invited to a billionaires home to play a cash game. I'll have to try and work on making some -ev plays. After I win the ME of course.

[/ QUOTE ]

Also: the billionaires all invite Hellmuth because of his tournament record, because they want to test their skills against the person they believe is the best in the world, and they can afford what they'll lose to pay for the experience.

More interesting to me is how clear it is that all the top pros also want Phil in their cash games. If he was as good as the OP believes, surely they'd all want him to stay away, but that's not the impression I get watching HSP at all.

Also, the best player in the world is obviously Amarillo Slim. How many times was Helmuth on the Johnny Carson show? I rest my case.

Has Hellmuth won a $10,000 buy in event since he won the 1989 main event, or come close?

Yes, because Gobbo has played a HUGE number of WSOP Hold'em tournaments... or 10K buy-in tournaments for that matter...

He's had a couple of deep runs since 2003. I'm no Hellmuth fanboy, but credit where credit is due. The guy cashes in and wins a lot of live tournaments. From this we can infer that he probably isn't the worst tournament hold 'em player out there. Beyond that, who the heck knows. As for other games, it seems pretty clear. When the cash game regulars are willing to build games around him, you can be pretty sure that the consensus is that he, how do you say, "lacks edge" in those games.
