I don't care how bad our pen has been, if we can limp into the post-season and some of those guys can get hot we can win in October. Remember the Red Sox championship team had an unhittable trio of relievers named Embree, Timlin, and Foulke that were all mediocre during the regular season. We just need the Pen to run hot for a couple months, we are strong in every other aspect of the game (besides 4-5 starters but I see some potential).

All in all this was a great win, we needed it in the worst way. Does any other team in the majors win/lose in such dramatic fasion?

Carlyle hasn't been great but more then adequete. I know his ERA is high and he gets alot of run support but he's been very solid as a 4th starter. Now 5th starter, I don't know what to do about that.

I think our bullpen potentially CAN be very good and since the Kolb/Reitsma disaster is still all too fresh in my mind I don't think I'll complain too much.

I quite like Mahay too and what he brings.

Carlyle has been a nice surprise. He's a solid #4 pitcher and has been/is just what the Braves needed. I wouldnt have any problems letting him start game 4 of a playoff.

Chuck James starting tonight against Hamels, should be fun to watch. Both are good young pitchers with a good future.

Question from this Mets fan:

What's it like to be able to rely on tearing out the hearts of Mets fans, series after series after series?

Does that feel good? I suspect that it does.

(P.S. What do I have do to arrange for you trading Chipper Jones to the American League?)

Dear Mets fan,
You are up 3.5 games in August. Count your blessings.

Wynton, this would work for me:

Braves get David Wright + a reliever
AL Team gets Chipper
Mets get Tejada

See Braves fans against any non-Met teams, we haven't nearly been that good this season e/c in Mets series.

And really just lucky against the Mets anyway. I dunno what the run totals are off the top of my head, but I wouldn't be suprised if the Mets have scored more.

Of course, that could be a little skewed because of some blowouts vs Redman early in the year too.

Excellent excellent start.

Maybe a stupid question but is one of the Philly announcers the guy who does those Nfl gamedays summaries.

Without the gameday background music, his voice is seriously distracting me.
