Re: We win (AP Scandal v. 27)
Ike,
Reread Chump Change's post from earlier in this thread: [ QUOTE ] ike, For a number of reasons, enough is enough. You are aware these threads are being read by EVERYbody, including the people at AP, and you are obviously worried about the hi5-6(?) figues you currently have tied up and subsequently afraid you will never see a dime of ANY of it if AP pegs you as one of the 'bad guys'. These fears might have merit but you don't need to shout down every contrary post and speculation all the while loosely defending the integrity of 'the company' just to prove otherwise to any AP bigwigs that might be reading, and quite frankly the schtick is laughably transparent. I like you and I personally pledge the first $500 installment in the pledge to get you repaid IF you don't see your money, but for the time being relax. Your behavior is bordering on trolling and your attitude that only the handful of players that lost to doubledrag are the ones ACTUALLY affected is obtuse and very disrespectful. [/ QUOTE ] |

Yes they are in charge, but they aren't the only ones there... If I worked at a place with corrupt management cheating and stealing from their customers, I would probably try to bring them down from the inside as well. If they hold to their story and don't come clean, I can only imagine that the inside whistleblowers would continue to feed info to the Mystery Machine until the whole story comes out. [/ QUOTE ] Or, I fear, the employees at AP will start to be antagonized by AP management adn suddenly all those 'inside sources' start clamming up. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Quote of Adam from P5's in the MSN Article :“I think that the reasons this got handled the way that it has, with a happy ending, is because the overwhelming majority of people in the industry … want things to be run in a fair and honest way,” WTF?? Happy ending? Is he serious? [/ QUOTE ] This has been bothering me as well. Adam lives in Costa Rica, visits the AP headquarters, meets the parties involved, AP posts a bunch of lies, and he then calls it a "happy ending"? I'm just saying.... [/ QUOTE ] yeah, b/c adam was bought obv [/ QUOTE ] Obviously not, but WTF? [/ QUOTE ] yes, imply one thing, take it back the next post. cool. if someone disagrees with you or has a quote taken out of context, then they're obviously bought [/ QUOTE ] Sorry if it wasn't clear, but that's what I meant by "I'm just saying", the obvious conclusion is also absurd. I have no idea why he would say this. |

Re: We win (AP Scandal v. 27)
Let me chime in quickly about the PPA once again, because I don't feel I've said enough.
It really bothers me that an organization formed to protect poker players has dropped the ball so badly on this one. What has the PPA done to really improve anything? The WSOP abused its players badly at the 2007 World Series, and the PPA stayed silent. The AP scandal has been going on since mid-September, and the PPA has stayed silent. They have not done one effective thing to help the poker community since they formed -- at least nothing to my knowledge. It would be great if we had an EFFECTIVE professional poker player's group/club that actually would take an active role in solving major problems that plauge the poker community. People from 2+2 did a great job in beating down AP on this one. Those that volunteered their time and energy to get AP to budge from their original stonewalling stance deserve an enormous amount of gratitude from the poker community. But notice that all of these people -- Josem, adanthar, Nat Arem, etc, were not doing this on behalf of any organization. They were not big-name players, nor did they have any particular influence or power. They were just regular, intelligent guys who bore down and got things done. Imaging how much MORE effective this could have been (and would continue to be) if we had something like the PPA take an active interest in this. A group like the PPA could be a great tool to pressure rogue online sites and/or lousy live tournament directors into doing the right thing. Instead, it seems they sit on their ass and don't get anything productive done. Is there something I'm missing here, or am I pretty much on the ball as far as the PPA goes? |

http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/com...amp;id=3752500 PUKE PUKE PUKE [/ QUOTE ] "Why does this not surprise me. I play on Bodog and the hands that come up are a joke when compared to what would happen at a regular casino table. Flushes, straight, and just the right card on the river way, way to many times, makes the site almost unbearable to play. I have been the reciepent of some of these bogus hands, so my account is over $4 million, but unless you have played the site for awhile, you would be caught with your pants down on many many ridiculous hands." [ QUOTE ]
dan, he didn't really leave. He would come back in 10 or 15 minutes. He would do this repeatedly. Maybe to cash out his winnings. If he was down he would not leave, probably because he didn't need to cash out. His timing was so obvious. He would take the exact same LONG time to continuation bet the flop (like 4 seconds) after 3betting preflop. All his actions took the exact same amount of time (even posting the blinds...he refused to autopost which was pretty shady) I would bet a very large sum of money that he was a bot. EDIT: Further evidence. I would play my button against him, sit out then go to another table. He kept following me around for a few days before "he" realized what was going on. LOL. [/ QUOTE ] I did this to him, too, but he realized it after just a few times. That's yet another indication that he wasn't a bot, at least in my view. I still think a bot wouldn't hit-and-run, as that practice is more suited to a human that needs emotional satisfaction from a win. For a bot, longer sessions are better. |

Re: We win (AP Scandal v. 27)
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] All, I hate to say this, but I think this is going to be a hollow victory. There's such a lack of visibility into who controls what in this basically unregulated (except by shams like KGC) industry that "AP" could be dissolved and these same guys could easily be running other operations, except they'll probably be more careful now. [/ QUOTE ] I like the IRS looking into unreported income angle for the AP top brass [/ QUOTE ] Are these guys even paying taxes to the IRS? If you're gonna launch an online poker site, aren't you pretty much renouncing your ability to set foot in the U.S. ever again (or at least until the legislative landscape changes) without being arrested? [/ QUOTE ] I'm not from the US but I have a juridical formation and know a bit about IRS (I'm sure there are a few US lawyers here so they'll have a far better opinion than mine) : Of course, they don't have to pay IRS if they live and have their economical/familial interests in another country but I've read quite a few times that US citizens, wherever they live , have to pay a small tax if their income is above a certain limit / Tax based on their worldwide income, wherever they live. Just trying to put my 2 cents here for the little I can help. This tax thing might be the only way to grab the balls of the perpetrators (Al Capone example), anyway private justice is always risky. Concerning other aspects of this cheaters story, there are a few aspects that are quite intriguing to me : - The obvious cheating (in the 400.000/1.000.000$ figure ?) - The super-mega obvious chip dumping (the 300.000$ that were chip-dumped in one HU HS session ? Or am I wrong ?). Speculations are widely open. Sorry for interrupting the thread. |

Re: We win (AP Scandal v. 27)
[ QUOTE ]
my 2cents, as a 4 year AP player (if that matters) ok, so AP releases bits a pieces of information to the public through ABC, MSNBC, Gambling911.com that was not first told to pocketfives and 2p2. They gather everyones responses/reactions (from the board here) to these new bits to figure out exactly which angle the community will accept, they edit their upcomming statement which is now tailored to everyones expectations. [/ QUOTE ] This is very possible, indeed. Judging how AP has reacted with their previous silly statements, the latter kind of confirms your theory. I can imagine the managers sitting there with a computer insanely refreshing the page of 2p2, sucking up any information posted there. |
