I think this is good advice for a regular league, but in a 2 QB league I'm trying to nab a Brees in the 3rd, or Bulger/McNabb in the late 4th, then trying to fill in the 2nd spot in the 7+ range with Kitna, Leinart, Cutler, etc

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh I missed 2 QB's. I would take Manning if the 1st if there. I would try to get a QB in the first 3 rounds for sure. Sorry about that.

Tyler,

How many points are TDs? Under this format you should not wait to take QBs, in fact, Peyton Manning would probably be the most valuable player. I would take QBs in the very early rounds, and this year the 1st tier QBs have a huge gap over the 2nd, and there are many decent RB options.

Does anyone want to help me come up w/ a good draft strategy for my league? We draft on Sunday and I pick 9th and 12th. We start 2 QBs (strange but interesting), 2 RBs, 3 WRs, one flex, 1 TE, D, K. It is a PPR league. It's a ten team league w/ standard scoring.

Last year my plan was to wait till late to take QBs but I wonder if I should try to grab one in the 2nd or 3rd round?

Here's my draft from last year:

1.4 Tiki Barber
2.17 Larry Fitzgerald
3.24 Warrick Dunn
4.37 Randy Moss
5.44 Santana Moss
6.57 Deuce McAllister
7.64 Thomas Jones
8.77 Tony Gonzalez
9.84 Corey Dillon
10.97 Chad Pennington
11.104 Phil Rivers
12.117 Reggie Brown
13.124 Mark Brunell
14.137 Roddy White
15.144 Jaguars D
16.157 Colts D
17.164 Jay Feely

Thanks very much for any help!

[/ QUOTE ]

First 7 picks should be roughly 2QB, 3RB, 2WR.

6 points for a TD no matter how it is scored. I think I should try to take a top-flight QB early on (first three rounds) and then another in round 6 or 7. Is Carson Palmer at #12 too high? I doubt he'd be available when I pick again at #29.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

Under this format I would honestly take two QBs with my first two picks.

Yeah I am thinking about it. But it's a PPR league.

Anyway I think the guy who is picking #10 and #11 will take Peyton if he is still on the board.

If it's a PPR league with 2 RB/3 WR/1 Flex, I think you need to get 2-3 RB and 2-3 WR before even thinking about nabbing a QB.

FBG has a few articles on the subject. One is about drafting a QB-by-committee in the late rounds and one is a mock draft of a league starting 2 QBs. Here's what the mock draft concluded (if your league ran like theirs):

-It is OK to wait on picking your first quarterback, but be one of the first to get your second and third QB
-Don't take 4 QBs, especially if you only have 17 roster spots.
-Every team but two had both starting QBs by the end of Round 7.

Then the best trio of QBs is Delhomme/Smith/Garcia. So I would wait and see when you should make a run for those guys.

With the 9th pick, take Manning if he's available- but don't take Palmer with your 12th. I'm thinking Parker/Addai and CJ/Steve Smith for your first two picks. If you really want a stud QB- I'd look at Brady/Brees/Bulger with your 29th, but I'd rather shore up in RB/WRs

...then be left with Edge/Benson as your two feature backs and Calvin Johnson as your #1 WR?! The QBs would go much higher if there wasn't a flex spot or fewer starting WRs AND it wasn't a PPR league. You're wasting your first two rounds to outscore your opponents' QBs by like 2-5fpg, yet will lose so much more in the RB and WR department.

Under this format, then, you'd finish not first.

bluef0x,

In Draft dominator using 2 QB's Manning is number 3, Palmer is number 7, Brady is number 14.

So, Tyler, I would really consider Palmer and Brady as your first two picks if both are available.
