Hi, I don't imagine if you would be involved in this end of things, but I'm curious.

Do LV casinos offer internships to under-21 college students in the expectation they'll take a job after they graduate? If you know anything about it, do they help with housing or pay a stipend, etc.?

Thanks.

i've not heard of anything like this. if a corporation were to have a program like this, it would be Harrah's, as they are the closest to corporate businesses outside of the casino industry. start with them.

GREAT post.

Just to clarify, you call the host in advance and ask what level of play is required for a comped room, book the room in advance through the CASINO (not expedia), play that level and ask for your comp. You won't get comped until you leave and have satisfied the requirements. Is all that correct?

Let's say that you only play 60% of the level you were supposed to, does the casino discount the room ever if they don't comp it?

How far in advance can you call? Do hosts get annoyed if you call 3 months in advance or do they talk to you, make notes and wait for you to arrive?

yes, all correct. if you don't quite play to the level then maybe the host will comp 2 nights and a meal instead of the full three nights. there's lots of ways to chop up how far your comps go. maybe they comp one night and two meals...who knows.

as far as how far in advance...honestly, with the computer systems they have now i have some reservations already booked for next fall & new years...however, this is for close relationship type players. i probably would take a reservation 3 to 4 months in advance from anyone i didn't know. just call and give it a shot...you'll find hosts are a finniky bunch...you may find one that doesn't want to book one more than a month or two out.

I plan on staying 15 nights at the Wynn during the WSOP. I'll probably be playing pit games (mostly $25-$100 BJ) as well as slots (25c, 50c, $1) a minimum of 3-4 hours a day with the wife.

I havent booked yet, but I was planning on doing so through Expedia. Do you suggest doing otherwise, or is my action not big enough for them?

Arg. I just booked my trip on expedia a week ago. Great thread though.

I probably wont play table games much anyway. I plan on mostly poker.

Let me chip in with my guess. Your play will not warrant three weeks of comped rooms. If it were me, I would Expedia (or a cheaper thrid party site) the first two weeks, and book the third with Wynn.
The have all three weeks comps applied to the last week booked directly with Wynn.
I know earleir in this thread T2L advocates a different approach, but as somebody who spends extended periods in LV hotels, I think a different approach is warranted. I could be wrong, but I think the advice of T2L is more applicable to shorter stays.

I would GUESS (emphasize guessing) that Expedia would be comprable to the casino rate at the Wynn, which sounds like what your play will be warrant. To be honest though, it's going to depend on any casino events they have going on at that time. If they have a lot of casino action...you will be a drop in the bucket and may not get much at all. The one upside to booking through something like Expedia is that your meals may still also be comped. So if you do go that route, sign all your bufetts, etc to your room...your play may be enough to comp those.

This is all very true...I would just restate that at the Wynn in particular...it's probably not worth his time to book even the end of the stay through the hotel...at another property yes, but here he's probably better off just trying to see how far his comps go towards his food bill.
