Its new. A little after originally replying to this thread, I gave it some thought, and I decided it'd be nice to have an active backup on board who would mod in the same pretty much hands off way that I do. Enter ClarkNasty.

I like how MEbenhoe comes in and acts like a super-douche like "thanks, but no thanks. you're all just being whining nits. i don't need your help."

Then he makes Clark a mod.

My big problem with MEbenhoe is that he thinks "hands off" means non-existent and wholly reactionary. There have been tons of threads that get derailed by two posters debating or arguing something and a mod coming in and posting "Guys, if you want to continue this, take it to PMs" would have probably solved the problem.

Similarly, in Student Life, threads about fake IDs, paying people to do work, and go untouched until people actively notify the mod. It's like he never even opens the forum some times, when a thread title is "$50 to do my assignment!" or something and it just sits there for days despite the title of the sticky being "Do not make threads offering to pay people to do your homework".

I'm not saying that you need to be a high volume poster in order to mod a particular forum, but besides the aforementioned sticky, he hasn't posted in SL since June.

All in all, I think both forums are fine, but they could be better.

Clark was the person who convinced me that mods shouldn't have ignore lists when I posted my 50+ list. I assume in the name of consistency he's removed his!
