Lou Piniella, CHC $3.5 million

Eric Wedge, CLE $1.025 million
Clint Hurdle, COL $800,000

I can't believe Francona deals with the Boston media and pressure for 1.65 million a year.

The Yankees' farm system is pretty much a bare cupboard now (thanks to Cashman, not Torre), so no one's going to trade the Yankees anything actually worth having.

Please stop posting in the thread, because you don't know what you are talking about. LOL.

It might make some difference in who re-signs. It won't alter A-Rod's decision making at all, though if he (correctly) sees the Yankees going through down years, he might actually be more opt to opt-out just to go to a team that has a chance.

As for Posada and Rivera, sure, they'll sign for $12m a year each, but the Yankees would be dumb to pay $12m a year to a closer when they're not going to be close enough to a playoff spot to need Rivera. They'd probably be better off spending the money restocking their farm system.

It's no accident that the Indians, Rockies, Tigers, etc., are a lot closer to a World Series these days than the Yankees, and it's no secret why.

I'm sorry. Offering a 1-year guaranteed deal to a great manager who has brought 4 rings to the organization is a complete slap in the face.

Torre correctly told them where to put that offer.

[/ QUOTE ]

so 4 championships means he's guaranteed the job for life?

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course not. In fact, the Yankees would be perfectly justified in saying "Joe, we're sorry, but we don't think you're the right man for the job.".

The only thing stopping the Yankees from doing so was a complete lack of character and class. The only thing classy about the Yankees front office is the size of their checkbook. As an organization, they're pretty tacky.

Is anyone listening to those idiots at FAN right now? I'm just curious what their position is (though not curious enough to listen myself).
