There are a lot of good choices in here. A local acoustic duo does a couple good covers that I haven't seen named here.

America - Horse With No Name
Three Dog Night - Never Been To Spain

I enjoy hearing them done by these guys, anyway.

Nath's List is awesome.

Me and my friend do a pretty good acoustic cover of Blink 182's 'What's my age Again?' with some nice harmonies that goes down well.

King of Carrot Flowers by Neutral Milk Hotel excites me too. Big fan of a lot of Decemberists stuff. I get the guy's voice pretty close so I can cover a lot easily - though that's not hard. Some easy Simon and Garfunkel like Only Living Boy in New York is a good idea, as are some classics like Norwegian Wood (Beatles) and May You never (John Martyn.)

REM stuff ALWAYS goes down well in a pub or whatever. I dunno, I tried out 'God's Word' by J.B Lenoir the other week and that was quite solid, and a few North East of England Miner's songs went down well too. If people are drunk enough what you play doesn't matter so much as whether you can play.

This cover of Rocketman really struck a chord for me though bc I enjoy this type of angst rock. It reminds me of a time when angst ridden rock songs were cool before the emo wave

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh, so you were serious about liking the singer's bad pitch on that cover?

Stevie Nicks said, in an interview, that she was honored that he covered it.

That's not saying much - Nicks' voice is only slightly less displeasing to the ear than Corgan's. Those are two horrible singing voices.

This is great, exactly what I was looking for. Obviously everyone has different tastes in what they would like to hear but the suggestions have all been really good. I can play Everlong and I agree its awesome but my roomate isnt really feeling it, we play "My Hero" acoustic but I dont like it that much.

Please keep the songs coming and this may sound stupid but wtf did I get banned for 1 day for starting this post? "Googletarding on cover songs" I was pissed.

This thread makes me really sad that I can't play the guitar. Everlong, Waitin' for superman, King of carrot flowers, patience. Wouldn't that be awesome.
