stars just came up with a message saying "cannot connect" or something similar, then booted me from the client

It's likely that all current tournaments will be canceled. If they somehow didn't cancel, then everyone is being blinded off right now. Stars will likely refund your entry fee if you didn't cash in the tourney.

Just e-mail support after it comes back up and they'll help you out.

Similarly, I'm sure Stars will help out with cash game issues.

EDIT: I guess Stars already replied a couple above me.
