Wish you hadn't told us about villain checking his cards or I would have folded the turn!
As for his line, he should have raised the flop to clean out his overcard outs. Getting you to fold AK would be a result for him at that stage.
Don't know about his turn line (apart from the card peek bit. If I ever play live I'll know not to put too much reliance on this kind of tell now!). I might have called the 3 bet in the hope that you kept raising rather than make a four bet that could have folded you out.

I am folding to the turn 4-bet.

Anyway, I agree with DL that Taggro could probably have played his hand better by raising the flop.

Maybe smooth calling the turn 3-bet might also have been better than his 4 betting, but ..... he probably recognised Tyler as a good player and most peeps here wanted to at least call !

He got really lucky on the turn. My guess is besides you two the table was probably fairly loose/passive and he should have raised dumb guys turn bet and expected to get a bunch of callers on a board like this one.

Sean, I don't see how you can say this, given the action that came down. Taggro calls, Hero raises and two players fold.

Meh, I wrote this long follow-up but it doesn't really matter; Villan holds the stone-cold nuts. Where he got lucky is that dumb guy 3bet. Once Tyler raised, the default expectation is that he's going to at least call any number of bets, but he might cap it if he's holding the 2nd-nut ace-high flush.

boz,

Tyler called the flop everyone else is probably passive. Given the texture of the board( 3 to a flush and 3 to a straight) i would expect a bunch of callers of my raise if I'm the tagro but I wouldn't count on anyone raising for me. He could have missed up to 5 big bets here by his little smooth call.

Or he might've raised and everybody folded so he got nothing. You're making an assumption about the table that isn't supported by what we actually see in this one hand, and if Villan was in fact a decent player his read on the table is probably more accurate than that assumption. This is also 8/16, not 2/4, so I think the standard read might be a little better than everybody cold-calling two big bets without a made flush or straight, and if somebody behind the Villan does have the straight or flush then he can expect them to raise for him.

All I'm really saying is that he's got the stone-cold nuts, and 3 out of 4 opponents yet-to-act. If 1 player plus the original bettor call his raise and 2 players fold, that's the same as everybody calling the original bet. (fwiw, he could only have missed 4bb by calling instead of raising.)
