Gas or anything oil-related. Yes the prices are going up all the time and people are terrified but that's just because everyone is so used to the super cheap gas. When you think about the ENERGY that one gallon has it's insanely cheap. So sick.

A single ride on the Moscow metro costs about 70 cents (don't go often enough for a monthly card but it's much cheaper still if you go twice a day), and it gets you within reasonable distance of pretty much anything within city limits (this is partly because things seem to be built around the metro system though).

In Kiev it literally costs 10 cents. It's smaller, has only three lines, but still WTF 10 cents?? A ride on the metro is probably about the cheapest item you can buy there - prices on most products have followed Western trends.

Oh and from the penny article:

Mr. Kolbe's bill never won approval from Congress, in part because of opposition from some business groups and coin collectors.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's just beyond WTF. You guys need a separation of coin collectors and state.

Maybe this is naive, but what prevents them from changing the size / material used, if they MUST keep using those damn coins? A penny costs 1.7 cents - that's a ridiculous markup. Nickels cost 8.3 cents, similarly crazy. But making 'nickels' out of copper should solve at least that problem. And there has to be some way to make cheaper pennies.

Hell, there actually are single kopecks (most people toss em in some kind of charity box or on the floor) here in Russia that are worth about 1/25th of a penny. They also cost more to produce (imagine that) but I doubt they cost more than a US penny.

Tattoos always seemed incredibly inexpensive. If a chick goes to a beauty shop and has her hair dyed/cut/whatever the hell they do there it can be like $200 no problem, and that's not even permanent. I'd think something that's gonna be on my body forever would be ridiculously expensive, but then again I imagine a lot of the business generated by seedy tattoo parlors isn't exactly that wealthy. Still they seem awfully cheap to me.

I dont even know how farmers make money with eggs. Dozen eggs is like 50 cents. That's the best deal in the supermarket.

[/ QUOTE ]

Along these lines, chicken is ridiculously cheap. $10 or so buys you enough chicken breasts to eat for two weeks or more, and it's even cheaper if you go for halves or quarters where you have to eat around some bones. Compared to beef and pork it's really a bargain.

Huh? I disagree. Whenever I buy a pack of three chicken breasts at the store, it usually runs me ~$8 and lasts me two days tops. A pack of four pork chops, however, costs half that.

Breakfast in a restaurant is way cheaper than it should be. You spend less than half what you spend for a decent dinner and get a ton of tasty food.

Squire electric guitars (by Fender)

Seriously, I just got one of these, completely rewired it, put in new pickups and switches and voilla, a GREAT sounding guitar for well under $400. American made fenders go for >1k and the Mexican made Fenders go for 6-800 and they are made of the same stuff as the Squires.

Coffee. Something that so many people drink on a daily basis costs a couple cents per cup when you make it at home.

Like mason said, public transportation in most cities. Bus rides anywhere on route for $1 usually, trains for $2. Compared to car loan, auto insurance, gas, maintenance, oil changes... public transportation is probably the most under-priced thing I can think of.
