Also, what do you mean by law guy? what are your qualifications?

[/ QUOTE ]

I've been an associate at a medium-large (250 lawyers in my office) law firm for 4 years.

In response to another comment about how living in New York is 20 times worse than smoking: I live in the suburbs of New York so my only experiene with the NYC air is on my lunch break and my walk to and from the train. During that time I would like not to inhale smoke.

Again, smokers have a right to choose their habit if they like. Since I choose not to smoke, I have a right not to inhale smoke from inconsiderate smokers who refuse to move away from the door to the office. They can stand along the street sides of the building as long as they avoid the entrances on the avenues.

You cannot justify smoking as an ok habit. Even though there are smokers who do not suffer from serious disease, they still have done damage to many vital organs. Everyone has bad habits but you have to admit that smoking is bad one.

Any building with 44 floors has multiple entrances, go out a different entrance then the one where smokers seem to congregate if it is that big of a problem. If it wasn't for Nits like you this would never be a problem as there would be indoor designated smoking areas.

I do agree you have a right to not breathe in or be near the smoke, in public places this is one of the hazards as many in the public do smoke.

Of course secondhand smoke shouldn't be a major concern for your average New Yorker with all the other pollutants in the city. But what if someone has asthma or allergies? As a smoker, I don't think it's fair to make things worse for them. Just stand back a few feet and show some respect Why be a douchebag?
