[ QUOTE ] Yes. And it should be obvious to you that I'm disturbed by the fact that a guy with 9+ figures in his bank account would sacrifice his dignity for $20K. That was the whole point of my post. [/ QUOTE ] Since when does Jerry "Slumlord" Buss have dignity? You're surprised that someone who's always been motivated primarily by money would continue that? [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] It should be obvious to you that Dr. Buss did a single-event sponsorship deal with DoylesRoom.NET. [/ QUOTE ] Yes. Re: \"Official\" Poker After Dark thread (week 2)
This announcer adds no value whatsoever. "Grey has a pair of 9's." Gee, thanks for the help. This show would be better with no announcer.

Re: \"Official\" Poker After Dark thread (week 2)
In the hand with MM and DN where Mike flopped the straight and DN pair of Kings - was it really any surprise when he paid Mike off at the end? I was thinking- don't do it, Daniel, and he ran through his usual commentary - told us that he knew he was beat, and called anyway.
Then, David G was down to something like 4K and come back from commercial and he has 40K???!!! Missed a whole slew of hands there. Hope MM and DN go heads-up. |

I don't remember Grey being down that much at any point. He had nearly 30K up until Gabe's bustout hand.

Re: \"Official\" Poker After Dark thread (week 2)
You're right. Just reviewed the segment and Grey had 62K when he called DN's all-in and lost. When I watched it this morning, Grey said something like, "I have 12K" and he only had to call 8K, so I was thinking he was down to 4K after he lost the hand. S'what I get for commenting before my coffee.....

If this S&G took place on the internet, people would be crying, "online poker is rigged," until they went blue in the face.

Re: \"Official\" Poker After Dark thread (week 2)
Another thing was a discussion between Doyle (?), Grey, and Daniel and what I picked up was ".... the administrators are expecting a larger crowd this year...." Daniel: "[they seriously misread the landscape...]" (paraphrasing). I think they are talking about the number of entrants to the WSOP ME this year? If so, what's the general consensus here? Do you think there will be far less this year because the sites can't buy people in directly? Or do you think there will be about the same? Slightly less? More? What percentage of the field last year earned their way in through online sites? Are there stats out there? Obviously, if PokerStars/FTP/et.al. deposits ME buy-in in someone's account, the chances of them using that for the tourney are significantly reduced, but how much. And what about the hundreds [thousands] of players that are finally getting good enough/rolled enough to play in the Main Event. If I had to guess, I would say that the numbers will be around the same as last year, if not slightly higher, even with the online legislation debacle. But this is said without really understanding how many people won their seats last year.....

I like how it went past Doyle's bedtime and he gave up.

Re: \"Official\" Poker After Dark thread (week 2)
David Grey should be banned from television. The other players must hate playing with him, he's a total nit action killer, he's an awful uninteresting player, he talks about what's going on at the table, talks during hands, and is just generally annoying. How did this guy ever get to be a respected poker player!?
edit : oh, I guess they tolerate him cuz he sucks so bad, but jeez... |
