You guys realize UFC is MMA which is mixed martial arts. The best fighters in the UFC/Pride are well versed in a wide array of martial arts. To think someone of a single discipline could beat someone who cross trains is stupid.

and the ufc guy trains too kill too. his moves are very deadly it's just that the ref and the sport the objective is not to kill your opponent. but in a life and death situation it's not hard to uses the death move used in the ring to cause actual death. when a fighter uses a choke hold in the ring the oponent taps out and he wins, if he doesnt let go the guy will die. if he ko's you the ref steps in and it's over. but in a death match he ko's you and then keeps hiting you till you die. the ufc moves are deadly but not used to kill in the sport. i don't see why this is so hard to figure out.

Many of your observations apply to good fighters in each discipline.
We're talking about the best 5 in the world here. Imo, that moves the UF and Martial Arts guy way up in your comparisons. |

One on one is a slightly different story. If we are comparing the world's best of each individual catagory then we have to consider fighting styles individualy also. I would rank as follows.
5th Boxer - Most boxers are 1 dimensional in training and their fighting style so I would rank them last. The boxer might stand a chance against the street fighter but all the others would have more advanced technique's such as grappling and throat chopping etc.. 4th Street fighter - The street fighter is at a disadavantage mainly because in street fighting you usually uses weapons basicly anything you can get your hands on. However in this case there is nothing to use but your body or the opponents. The only reason I rank him/her higher than the boxer is because of the broad styles of fighting that he/she may have knowledge of especially in a death match. 3rd Navy Seal - Again these are the best of the best and I esteem these as the military elite in many areas. Therein is the problem and therefore the lower rank, they are trained in much more than hand to hand combat. They have to be experts in everything from stealth ops to map reading, weapons training and the list goes on and on. Also they dont have the fight experience that the Ultimate fighter has. If anyone knows a Navy seal ask them how many hand to hand fights they got into, see what Im saying. Majority of what they do is not physically combative. 2nd UFC fighter - Yeah these guys are bad ass, relentless, blood thirsty fight mongers that will anihilate the majority of this field but against the best martial arts fighter in the world I dont think so. Especially when the weight of each fighter is equal. Martial arts is too dynamic and most masters are skilled in more than just one art. That leaves me with the final answer and clear cut winner of this event... 1st Martial Arts Fighter . |

I wasn't talking about multiple opponents at once. [/ QUOTE ] Then your talking about 10 different match-ups? In any event, that changes alot. That moves the Seal up, as well as the street fighter. But only in the long run. I still think the Martial Arts expert uses his defensive skills to avoid the ultimate fighter enough to beat him in the long run. And I am assuming no restriction on techniques or tactics. Just the no-gloves, and no weapons. Martial Arts 4-0 (2:1 against the UF) Ultimate Fighter 3-1 (3:2 against the Seal, 7:3 against the street fighter) Seal 2-2 Street Fighter 1-3 Boxer 0-4 The size of the cage is an issue too. The smaller the cage the worse for the martial arts expert. |

Do the fighters know who they are fighting before the fight? How much do they know and how long do they have to prepare?
The more they know and and the longer they have the more I favor the navy seal. He will use the info and time to the greatest advantage as he has planned to kill in the past and the others never have. |

The top fighter for the job could wind up in any of these groups, depending on circumstances. We're not talking about the average person from any one of these groups, but THE guy.
The top street-fighter might have a criminal history that would keep him out of the military (so he'd never have had the opportunity to be a Navy Seal). It's the same as asking which of the major sports has the best "overall" male athlete in it (in terms of pure overall physical ability). It depends where the top athlete chose to go, and what his options were. One year it might be Michael Jordan, another time it might Deion Sanders, or Lance Armstrong, or maybe he's a midfielder on an Italian soccer team, whatever. They could come from anywhere. Same thing for the top fighter. He could come from, and wind up, anywhere. |

I'd imagine being in an inclosure would be a huge advantage to the ufc/ martial arts guy because that is what they are accustomed to.
