Guys - I love bacon. I only get Boar's Head brand. I am going to do the following new things I have learned from this thread:

1) Bake bacon (although, I like frying cause I get to use the bacon fat for all sorts of awesome things).
2) Try Nieman Ranch, also get my local butcher to cut me slabs of bacon.
3) Continue never caring about or trying turkey "bacon" (wtf).

I'm gonna blow your mind here, when you bake bacon the fat doesn't evaporate!

Does anybody else cook bacon in the oven rather than frying it?

I put my oven at 550, put about half a dozen long strips on a rack in a pan, cook for 7-8 minutes, flip the pieces, and cook for another 7-8 minutes.

The end result is long, uncrickled pieces of bacon delicousness.

[/ QUOTE ]

The only way to do it.

If more people can testify to the greatnss of this combination, I will try it, as it combines my two favorite foods. As of now I'm skeptical.
