Re: Harry Demetrieu Escorted Out of tournament??
Someone please explain to me:
If you don't like playing at short-handed tables, WHY THE HELL DID YOU SIGN UP TO PLAY A SHOOT-OUT? Did you think you'd be at a full table for most of the day, until that fateful hand where 9 opponents all pushed their chips in? [ QUOTE ] After reading this I think 10-10-6 would have made much more sense. [/ QUOTE ] Why? To postpone the "I don't want to play short-handed" complaints until after 594 players had been eliminated? |

Re: Harry Demetrieu Escorted Out of tournament??
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Oh I think that the floor should have little to no right to assess a penalty, or should only give one in EXTREME circumstances. It's a service industry, they should treat tournament players as if they were customers in a restaurant. [/ QUOTE ] WTF people, the guy stood up and started yelling that he wasn't playing and demanded a refund. What are they supposed to do except give him a penalty to give him time to cool down, and get him out of the room so play can continue? Get a grip, the guy was being an a-hole and got what he deserved. [/ QUOTE ] What were they supposed to do? Call a higher ranking tourney official, or give him a refund, consolidate the tables, or even give him a ten minute penalty and disuss things with him outside. I can think of plenty of options they had besides disqualifying him from the tourney and escorting him out. Why should the people putting up all of the money have to meekly go along with every wrongheaded thing the tourney officials do? |

Re: Harry Demetrieu Escorted Out of tournament??
Brain Wilson re-counted a intresting story on his table of the event on Bluff Radio. He said his table started 3 handed, the guy sitting next to him/near him busted the other guy in the first few hands. Because of the way they were sitting and the dead chips/non-showing players were lined up his only present opponent was getting the button essentially 5-6 times in a row vs. him.
Pretty terrible. |

Re: Harry Demetrieu Escorted Out of tournament??
From rzitup's write-up:
[ QUOTE ] What if only 200 players had signed up for this tournament? Do you think they would have paid 50% of the field? Of course not. The reference to 100 players was inserted assuming that the tournament would sell out. By sticking to the number 100, they ended up paying 16.7% of the field. All WSOP tournaments are paying approximately 10% of the field. Why the discrepancy? [/ QUOTE ] Quoting for truth, because this came to me as well, and no one's brought it up. Harrah's screwed up in writing out the rules for the tournament - they should've put a disclaimer that the numbers they gave were based on a # of 1000 entries, or they should've written that the tournament would begin with 10-handed tables to insure a Top 10% payout of the prize money. Instead they got what they got, and Harry was in the right to complain, but not for any of the reasons he alledgedly said or anyone said he said - he should've brought up how Harrah's had just now significantly thinned out the prize pool by starting with 6-handed. |

The censorship/removal of live reports on this at CardPlayer and PokerWire, however, is also possibly of greater or at least equal concern. [/ QUOTE ] Wow. Even more amazing than that is that CardPlayer and PokerWire did not write anything about it. I guess money means more than good reporting. This is so [censored] up... |

Re: Harry Demetrieu Escorted Out of tournament??
Excellent post, Mike. I have never heard of a shoot-out starting six-handed, either. Even when the fields were horribly small (remember the WPPA?) no official ever thought it was in anyone's best interest to begin that short!
Felicia [ QUOTE ] I posted my thoughts on the event today at my website www.rzitup.com. I didnt paste it here because it's long (feel free to do so if that works better). [/ QUOTE ] |
