I used to check behind often on scary river cards. However, I have bet them more often and get called by some really weak hands. So, betting there shows good results.
Mine is playing ace high when it whiffs the flop. I basically just bluff like crazy, hoping that villain will fold to my aggression. I lose too much cash that way. |

Good points Yourface If you peel those flops you have to make it tough for villain to play the turn. Start check raising turns if he keeps 2nd barreling air. How the hell is villain gonna continue in the hand with QJ if you c/r a T326 board? But in my experince at AP and party that isnt neccessary at all. TAGs will check behind the turn a lot and you dont need that check and free river very often to make it profitable to peel with 76 on T32 flop, in particular if you have a bit of a backdoor. [/ QUOTE ] good tags don't check behind the turn in that spot cuz everybody peels T32 flops nowadays. The part about waiting til the turn to c/r decent hands on those boards is interesting and maybe a good defense against the relentless 2 barrelers we're seeing lately. But if you're like me it really hurts to slowplay anything good cuz you miss out on the chance to cap the flop and induce a terrible A-hi call down (or bad turn fold). So i dunno, maybe it makes sense to just c/r a bunch of decent unpaired hands here (good kx and qx and 3-straights) and fold the rest? Sorry for the rambling I really don't have this stuff figured out yet but I'm pretty sure the good hu specialists do. |

I just wanted to bump this and say that I've gotta tip my cap to Oink here. I found a couple TAGs last night that were raising my blind in the CO and on the button with decent hands, but always feared the turn c/r if there wasn't an obvious straight or flush draw on the turn so they would just give me free cards.
for example. TAG raises in the CO and I defended with J8o. The flop came down T62r, I c/c. Turn was a 7, and he checks behind. River comes an 8 and I value bet and he calls me with AKs. I did this to him again the next time around the table, and he was so tilted that the next time I c/r him from the big blind he spewed off his last 4BB wit A-high UI. moral of the story, against some predictable and weak TAGs floating the flop gives them all kind of trouble. They'll start to try to get to SD cheap against you because they don't know what to do if you c/r the turn, and in the process they'll give you a turn and river card for 1 SB. Plus they basically just turn their hand face up (look I have UI overs!). |

To piggyback a little, you have to show the ability to float flop-C/R turn to slow them down - a thinking aggro player will notice the players who do this and be much much more inclined to take the TVC line against you (which is a huge FTOP win for you if you don't turn into a bluff-monkey on the river)

I had this guy so confused because one time I floated-checked-value bet the river. Another time I floated-c/r'd the turn and another time I c/r'd the flop. I actually made a point of not trying to bluff him (obv it helps when you hit some pairs) because I knew he was so confused that he was just going to call down with any SDable hand to figure out what was going on. |
