A role Tobye Maguire was born to play. IE - Pleasantville. And American Beauty bugged the crap out of me for the same reason. I bet anything they wanted Tobey Maguire for that role.

i can watch man on fire or tombstone any time any place, but i think they are "popular"

If you feel you have seen alot of the "recognized" American movies, I would highly suggest watching foreign movies. About a year, or 1.5 years ago, I said " screw American films, I have seen everything". Now obv, I hadn't seen everything (or even close to it) but I felt it was getting difficult to find something interesting.

So I switched to foreign.

City of God is a good one.
If you like flying China men, then Iron Monkey, Hero, and Curse of the Golden Flower all get my nod.

Some American films that you should check out are:

Mullholand Drive (Naiomi Watts fingers herself/ has lesbo scenes)
2 days in the valley (some kind of crime movie, done in the style of Crash)
Magnolia
Do the Right (a bunch of ppl interect on a hot summer day in NY, spike lee)
Pianist (WW2, jew tries to escape death)

I'd say these movies are well known, but they dont really strike me as popular. Needless to say, 4 of the 5 are excellent IMO.
