Nope! Thanks.

I still thinks it's a good new challenge though!

Hi Grunch,

Here's my counter-challenge.

If you consider yourself a person who is already doing what Grunch recommends (ie, you read posts and reply with original thoughts before reading other replies), then here's a new challenge for you.

Write 5 posts where you analyze a hand and describe what to do the point of view of managing your entire range and avoiding being exploitable. Look for any post where the opponent is described as "good", "tough", whatever.

This kind of analysis is also interesting for any hand where a read isn't given, and it can be used in hands where reads are given, by simply doing the analysis then suggesting how to vary your play based on the given read.

I think you'll find that your brain hurts after you do the first one. Good. That means it's working.

I really hate to bump this thread, but Eric, do you realize that this original post is 2.5 years old? People in the micros ans SSHE have been "grunching" for years.

Kit,
I am one who doesn't mind playing with other 2p2ers, because as you mentioned, many of them play super predictable. Keep in mind though that this is typically only true of the systematic TAGs who only play a certain way because that is what has been spoon fed to them and it has proven to work. These types will continue to beat-up on the fish, but still have a poor understanding of the game itself and WHY certain things work better in various scenarios.

I think this is why 18/9/1.5 isn't the optimal stats for a player who ever wants to play higher thatn 1/2. Outfolding can win in most games 1/2 and below, but you (newer players in general) are going to have to start thinking out of the box.

I guess my next puestion is, are you exploitable? (I've been called that by an excellent poster, and since then have tried to change that. Don't know if I have, but it is in my mind, somewhere.) Are you so painfully standard that medium skilled players can call your hand halfway through the turn?

my .02 for freshman and sophmores (not directed at you Eric).
