Re: What sports moment made you the happiest/saddest?
Happiest Moment: When Liverpool defeated Chelsea on the 2007 semi-final.
Saddest Moment: When Liverpool lost against Leverkusen on the year 2002. If I had to think the 5 happiest days of my life overall, I would choose 3 Liverpool wins. I think Im the biggest Liverpool fan on Chile. |

Re: What sports moment made you the happiest/saddest?
All right, here's some more nominations for my happiest:
"Huard back to throw the ball. He looks, throws toward the corner of the endzone, it is... INTERCEPTED! The Ducks have the ball! To the 35, the 40, Kenny Wheaton's gonna' score! KENNY WHEATON IS GONNA SCORE!!! The 20, the ten, touchdown! Kenny Wheaton! On the interception! The most improbable finish to a football game!!!" Niners Super Bowl win, 1995 2001 Fiesta Bowl + 2002 Ducks' Elite 8 run And some of the saddest: 2001 Mariners - playoffs: "Well, we set the wins record... I guess that means we don't have anything left to do?" 1990 NBA Finals, game 4: DANNY YOUNG TIED THAT GAME!!! AFTER THE BUZZER??? NO WAY!!! (I haven't ever gone back and looked at this objectively, it might actually have been a good call, but what matters is how I felt at the time, right?) 2000 Western Conference Finals - Game 7: The Blazers were up FIFTEEN! In the FOURTH QUARTER!!! And we LOST??? |

Re: What sports moment made you the happiest/saddest?
Happiest:
Illinois beating Arizona in the Sweet 16 in 2005. I still get chills when I watch that video. Bears beating the Saints to get to the Super Bowl for the first time in my lifetime. Bulls comeback in 1992 Finals clincher - which I remember even though I was five years old. Paxson For 3!!! in 1993. 2nd Bulls 3peat. Saddest: Cubs/Marlins Game 6 and 7. No sports fan knows what pain is unless they have suffered through the agony of these games and the way the Cubs lost them. I still get an icky taste in my mouth even though it has been 4 years. Illinois losing to UNC in the NCAA Championship in 2005. |

[ QUOTE ]
1980 down 6-3 in 8th to Nolan Ryan, win best MLB LCS ever. [/ QUOTE ] Wow I was at this game, it's one of my saddest. Of course, I was only 11 at the time and figured the Astros would win the World Series the next year. Mmph. [ QUOTE ] Chris Duhon's meaningless half-court 3 v UConn. [/ QUOTE ] Hahaha I was at this game too, the whole stadium screamed in terror/delight when this shot went in. Has to be one of the greatest "gambling moments" ever. |

[/ QUOTE ] Hahaha I was at this game too, the whole stadium screamed in terror/delight when this shot went in. Has to be one of the greatest "gambling moments" ever. [/ QUOTE ] For anyone who doesnt know: [ QUOTE ] It was a shot that meant nothing to some and everything to others. When Duke senior Chris Duhon nailed a 38-foot three-point shot off one leg as time expired in the semifinal game against the University of Connecticut on Saturday night, the Blue Devils still lost the game. But to those who wagered on the blue and white, the fortuitous bank shot that made the final score 79-78 meant that the underdogs covered the spread, which was between two and three points. Those who put money on the Huskies, who had a 12-point run late in the game to take the lead, suddenly had lost their bet. Those who put money on Duke to cover collected their winnings. With approximately $100 million being bet on March Madness each year in Las Vegas and about $2.5 billion wagered online according to the FBI, the Duhon shot transferred anywhere from $30 million to $100 million from those who bet on UConn to cover the point spread to those who bet on Duke to cover, as estimated by those closely tied to the sports gambling business. On Boone, I was watching the game at my office, and figured I was jinxing them, so I watched the game stat thingy on my computer, they did a little better, I figured they do even better if I left them alone, so I drove home, I live close by, I get home, turn on the TV, one pitch, HR, game over, TV off. |
