Why pick a name like Melissa if you plan on calling her Molly. Just call her Molly if thats the case? ... Fwiw, Melissa is best option in poll (but would have chosen Bastard if had option). Mel is a good shortening. Dont for the love of god shorten it to Molly. ... [/ QUOTE ] Either Melissa or Molly would be fine, but the idea of naming her one and using the other as a nickname is just inexplicable. I voted Veronica, thinking of Ronnie as a nickname. |

Re: 2+2: Name My Baby!
Thank you for taking the time to vote and comment. We won't name her until Saturday night, so keep voting.
A couple comments and questions: 1. BASTARD! is not a poll option because I was pretty sure it would win. 2. The reason for naming her Melissa but using Molly as a nickname is because both me and my wife like the name Molly but my wife doesn't like how Molly goes with our last name. (Our last name ends in the same long E sound that Molly does.) That's also why she rejected my choices of Chloe, Zooey and Moxie. (I have no idea why she rejected my suggestion of Xena) 3. For the Veronica haters- I'm surprised anyone would hate that name. Do you live in the USA or somewhere else? The only people I know named Veronica are the actress Veronica Lake and the character from the Archie comics. (And there's a song by Elvis Costello) 4. Would kids really make fun of her if her name was Sabrina? 5. Thanks for the MS Paint. I laughed. Now I have to try to explain it to my wife. |

[/ QUOTE ] Btw, i probably came off harsh in this thread, i just like playing the part of the grump English bastard 1, It sure would 2, Nicknaming her Molly, ie constantly calling her Molly, means she will consider her to be called that. My full name is Phillip (named after my Great Uncle which is how my name came about) and my parents always shortened it to Phill, and to me that is my name. If you call her Molly at home, she will introduce herself as Molly at school. If kids want to make fun of her for having a rhyming surname then they will do so - but if you like Molly call her Molly. 3, Im one of the first to create the anti Veronica heat. I dont know who V. Lake is or read Archie. Fwiw i dont like the name. But then its not my daughter 4, Yes. 5, Get it framed. Then look forward to explaining it to your daughter |
