I have seen a million cases myself where people don't(not many since college), but like i said if someone comes up and assaults you for "provoking" them, then it is perfectly within your rights to seek the authorities.

me and jimmy gilbride. he stole some money from me. i tryed to get it back, he paid some of it and then avoided me. i seen him and fought him a few times. he never called the cops and it ended there.
some kid took something from my car. i took his chain when i seen him next.he called his friend another time i seen him who was much older than me at the time. we fought outside a club. i never called the police and it ended there.even tho his friend was on parole and could be sent back to prison if i called the police we handled what we needed to in the street.
