Throwing in my vote for T2 > T1 (not even close imo)
Aliens and Alien can't be compared fairly because they're two very different movies.
I preferred Godfather I, but whatever.
I enjoyed Return of the King and The Two Towers more than Fellowship (more action), but hard pressed to say which is the better movie since it's really just one long movie with two intermissions.

Spiderman 2 > Spiderman 1
X2 > Xmen
Empire Strikes Back > Star Wars
Silence of the Lambs > Manhunter (maybe not technically a sequel)

Star Trek is unique in that a lot of fans would rank the original film the worst out of all ten.

(VI) The Undiscovered Country (most trekkers rank this higher than I do)

An 11th Star Trek film will feature a young Kirk and Spock meeting at Starfleet Academy and going on their first space mission. It's in pre-production and is scheduled for a Christmas, 2008 release.
