TOTMidian-

It is unlikely that anyonne, especially 25/50 winners will be interested in a profit sharing deal. And no offense, but 13k in 55k hands isn't like the 2nd coming that is going to encourage a huge huge winner to take up a profit sharing deal.

Yes, coaching is expensive, and yes, things will always be a bit of a compromise in finding someone whose ability as a coach/hourly rate fits with your willingness to pay. (And obviously those two things are almost always positively correlated, so you get what you pay for.)

[/ QUOTE ]

i never claimed to be the 2nd coming, why else would i be looking for a coach? besides my total won there is clearly skewed by the fact that half the hands were at 200nl and a fair portion at 400nl too, i'm only playing 600nl nowadays. if none are willing to do profit sharing that's fine, it was just a question that was aimed at the coaches themselves, not you anyway. besides i can always look elsewhere, i could just pay the hourly fees or even go without. i just think it gives the coach more motivation to teach to his best ability if it's done on a profit sharing deal and i don't think i can get all that much out of the majority of the "cheaper" coaches. And you don't always "get what you pay for" some coaches are clearly better value for money than others, which is what half of my post was about - who is the best value for money for someone at my, admittedly uberdonk, level?

Despite the horrible image boosted has set for himself. Three different people I have talked to on AIM, have got coached by BoostedJ and thought he was a very good HU player/coach. So I would go him with him if you are playing 5/10nl+ short handed or HU.

I wasn't trying to be insulting just pointing out that in order for a coach to want to do a profit sharing deal, it is likely that they would only undertake the "most promising of students." And while you certainly look solid, and profitable, those stats are not anything that is going to make a coach think that he can turn you into a 10/20 or 25/50 winner, or that it would be profitable enough given the likely effort it would take.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
Not that it matters, but I am a coach.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with this, just am of the opinion that a winning 10/20+ player probably won't have the time or desire necessary to make sure that they get enough time in so that he is guaranteed a profit. Also, realize that if his hourly playing his usual games is around $500, and him playing your games it may be $320 (all these numbers are completely hypothetical), and if you play as well as he does (unlikely assumption) then he would still only receive a % of 320 (which is less than his usual hourly). This all goes without mentioning any trust issues in reporting winnings between two people who do not know each other particularly well.

[ QUOTE ]

This is true, and I believe I said, "for the most part." There has also been plenty of discussion in this thread of who gives better value. (CliffNotes for you: DJSensei and RBK were both highly recommended)

Midian, look through the posts by the different coaches. The quality varies more than the prices..

OK heres what u do, open 12 tables and play AK, AQ and JJ+. Sometimes play lower pairs to hit a set. If u hit a set get money in, otherwise fold.

Saved someone some money...

I'd say DJ Sens is the best value on that list at $200 an hour.
