The best jobs still go to Ivy League legacy kids and friends of friends, same here as anywhere. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe you are restricting "best jobs" to those in a few select fields, but this statement seems silly. |

The best jobs may well be in a few select fields, but best jobs doesn't have to mean them alone. It can also mean top positions and positions with the greatest potential in any number of fields.
Banking is an example of a famous job to dump rich kids in. The hours can be ridiculous and the responsibilities minimal. Law is another field in which knowing people can be hugely helpful. Being the son of a partner or having close ties to one can put one in firms one might otherwise never have access to, and virtually guarantee a partnership. This sort of thing is hardly unusual in the business world. Having connections is more than a little relevant in any number of fields. To say the least, it opens a whole lot of doors. |

Simple answer. The upper class take the dishes out of the sink before they piss in it. [/ QUOTE ] Also, to pick his nose, the upper class gentleman uses his pinky finger. |

The class system in America is about having a certain upbringing/etiquette, social connections and exposure. They're move fluid than formerly monarchistic countries but when you're put into a setting of a different class, you know where you stand.
Basically, I don't believe its about the money. |

In the ElD forum the thread on 'Top Ten Traders' had a link to a short story by Tom Wolfe that did a pretty good job outlining the presumed differences between newly rich and upper class.
